They conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact studies and supervise the construction of water supply systems and wastewater treatment plants.

engineering career

One of the many tasks a water engineer can undertake is to design and implement flood defence systems or improve sewer infrastructure. They have to design and present projects details and communicate technical information to clients and other engineers. They may travel extensively, sometimes even to other countries, and work long hours. A water engineer needs a primary degree in their field of choice, and postgraduate qualifications can further their career development. Engineers may also start their own consulting companies.
